What if Jupiter Never Existed?
Our solar system is very huge and mysterious, new planets are kept on discovered! Let us now know what actually would have happened if Jupiter never existed...
What if I say Jupiter plays a major role for our survival?
Well, I don't wanna be a joking matter, so I'll straight away start with the consequences and, its importance basically!
There is an hypothesis saying Jupiter was important for the formation of inner planets(rocky planets) for our solar system. It is believed by some scientists that, when our solar system just kick started, our Sun was surrounded by "super rocky planets". And at that time it is believed that Jupiter moved inwards towards our sun affecting the orbit of the "super rocky planets" due to it's huge gravitational pull, eventually causing these planets collide with one another and smash themselves into pieces. Thinking how it was helpful? well I'm not done yet!
Some of these smashed pieces bustled into the Sun. Later on the Jupiter was pulled away from the sun due to the formation of Saturn eventually letting the left over debris to form these "rocky inner planets"(Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars) we know. This also explains why inner planets are younger than outer planets!
If the hypotheses was true and Jupiter never existed, Earth would have never formed and...anyway past is past....let's talk about its recent achievements in serving us!
Some astronomers believe that one reason Earth is habitable is that the gravity of Jupiter does help protect us from some comets. Long-period comets, in particular, enter the solar system from its outer reaches. Jupiter’s gravity is thought to sling most of these fast-moving ice balls out of the solar system before they can get close to Earth....!
So isn't Jupiter a life saving planet even though it doesn't contain any?
Any ideas and suggestions will be appreciated!
